ABOUT US
Our Purpose Is People
The Jamaican Association of Greensboro exists to help Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica thrive across the Piedmont Triad. Our work rests on four commitments: education, partnership, support, and culture.
We invest in education through scholarship dinners that fund students entering four year colleges and cover school fees for those already enrolled, and through Summer Math and Reading programs run with NC A&T State University at Shortwood Teachers' College in Jamaica.
We build partnerships that let us do more together. We joined organizations in Charlotte to deliver nearly $20,000 in relief after Hurricane Melissa, and we support the Salvation Army Hanbury Children's Home in Mandeville.
We offer support to newly arriving teachers and families, providing furniture, appliances, and home essentials, connecting them with resources, and running food and coat drives across Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem.
And we celebrate culture all year long, from our Father's Day cookout and Independence banquet dinners to Games Night and our Christmas Social. Together we honor our roots, strengthen our community, and build a brighter future.

More Than Three Decades Strong
Thanks to the visionaries who established this organization, we continue to be a cornerstone in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. Our founders envisioned a space where Jamaicans could unite, share memories, and contribute their time, talent, and resources for the greater good. More than three decades later, the Jamaican Association of Greensboro still thrives, steadfastly upholding our founders' values, purpose, and mission. Our impact within our community and beyond is a testament to their foresight and our collective efforts. We salute our founding members!
OUR MISSION
What We Stand For
Education
Provide educational assistance and scholarships for Jamaican students in the Piedmont Triad and children in Jamaica.
Partnership
Foster partnerships between the Association and other social organizations to do more, together.
Support
Assist newly arriving Jamaicans get settled in the community, and support other individuals in times of hardship.
Culture
Promote awareness of Jamaican culture through leadership, celebration, and community service.
